Self care era- 2023

Well, where do I start? 2023. The year of changes. Many people are in their healing era. Self care era or however you want to call it. I am also in this period in my life. What does that mean? We are taking care of ourselves. You see people all around the world on social media talking about their journey. Self care. Loving yourself. Past generations have left us with traumas. Our society is pretty much damaged. Emotionally unavailable, we can't even take care of ourselves, we don't love and respect ourselves enough. We get into relationships to avoid our own problems and we get out of relationships with even bigger burden.
We are all kind of the same. Dealing with the same amount of pressure, dealing with pretty much the same traumas. Superficially, we are all perfect. Looking good, smiling. But what lies undeneath. We all carry something, past relationships, family issues, economic troubles, you name it. And we thought that this period of time will be for us. Just for ourselves.
We read books, meditate, listen to music trying to forget, go into therapy, talking to friends, crying ourselves to sleep, smiling at a brighter future, planning, dreaming our lives ahead. Let me tell you something. Be more compassionate with yourself because this era can be tough too. Don't be too harsh on yourself. When it comes to ourselves we can be the worst critics. No one will ever judge us like we do. Try to be kind with your process. Healing and self care is a lifelong journey. Opening pandora's box and trying to make a sense out of everything and learning to love yourself can be really tough.
You can't wake up one day and become the best version of you. It takes time. Self care is improving yourself, having goals, hitting the gym, reading that book, taking time off, lighting a candle. But it also means accepting. Accepting your flaws. You cannot always demand from yourself to be the best version of you. You have to accept your flaws, love youself as is and try to change for the better. You have to be able tot accept yourself in order to make improvements.
